How I Can Help
Scholarships achieve dreams!
For many GCC College students, a scholarship is what makes the difference between earning their degree and putting it on hold again due to financial constraints. A contribution in support of student scholarships is one of the most powerful ways you can help students. We are proud to have awarded more than $20,000 in scholarships last year. This would not have been possible without the generous support of our donors.
Alumni and friends looking to have a direct impact on our students often choose to establish a scholarship that will support students needing assistance to continue their studies. Creating a named endowed scholarship is also a wonderful way to continue the legacy of a loved one or honor family members.
The sense of pride donors feel when they have the opportunity to meet their student recipients at events or graduation is evident. Seeing first hand the difference their generous support makes in the lives of our students is a powerful reminder that their decision to establish a scholarship has indeed changed lives.
“I am extremely grateful for having been selected to receive the Guam Community College Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship provides the inspiration and financial means for me to follow my dreams of a college education and to achieve my greatest endeavors towards a promising career. I feel honored to have been given this generous gift. I hope you know how much it means to me and how much I appreciate the kindness of your heart and support. Thank you for your belief in education and in me. May God bless you for your thoughtfulness and generosity!”

How to Establish a Scholarship Fund
Scholarships keep education accessible. Every day, hard-working and deserving students enroll at Lane to better their life. Many could not pursue their dreams without scholarship support. Their success depends on you, our donors.
GCC Foundation Scholarship Fund - This unrestricted annual scholarship benefits students in all areas of study from accounting and construction trades to culinary, nursing or diesel technology. Stay tuned for more details on next year's call for applications!

Annual Named Scholarship - Annual named scholarships are established on a yearly basis and can be renewed. The minimum gift is $500. This minimum dollar amount represents one-third the current cost of one year’s tuition at Guam Community College. These scholarships are awarded each year the donor renews the gift. They may be restricted for a specific degree program or major. The fund is not permanent nor does it participate in the foundation’s investment program.

Endowed Scholarships - A scholarship endowment is similar to a savings account or an investment account. The earnings from the fund are used to support a scholarship, but the principal of the fund remains untouched. The endowment fund thus provides scholarship support for students in perpetuity. Endowments can be created with either a gift or pledge of $10,000 or more. Pledges can be paid over five years.
If you are interested in establishing an endowed fund, or adding to an existing fund, please contact the Development & Alumni Relations Office at 735-5554 and 735-5516.
