GCC 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award
Thousands of island residents are alumni from the former Guam Community College Voc-Tech High School, or from one of GCC’s excellent postsecondary programs, and they are making important contributions to Guam’s workforce and serving our community. Nominate one of them to be GCC’s 2020 Distinguished Alumnus.
Each year, GCC celebrates the accomplishments of an alumnus who has demonstrated exemplary professional achievement and service to the community. The 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented during the GCC Commencement on Friday, May 15, at the UOG Field House.
“Our graduates are making significant contributions to Guam’s workforce. Celebrating those contributions is the goal of the Distinguished Alumni award. If you know someone that you feel should be a GCC Distinguished Alumnus, please help us to highlight that person’s accomplishments by nominating them for this prestigious award,” said Dr. Mary Okada, GCC president.
Download the nomination form at www.guamcc.edu, fill it out, and submit along with supporting materials to the GCC Development & Alumni Relations Office by 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2020.
A person is eligible if he or she has been an alumnus from the former Guam Vocational & Technical High School (GVTHS) or any of Guam Community College’s secondary, postsecondary or Adult Education programs; earned their high school equivalency at GCC, or has attended any of the aforementioned for a minimum of one semester.
Selection is based primarily on materials submitted by a nominator. The selection committee will consider the nominee’s professional accomplishments; professional activities; demonstration of distinct/unique achievement in their career since graduation; student achievements; and, national recognitions as part of the criteria for selection.
The 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award helps the college to reconnect with its over 10,000 alumni, promote special events, and move forward with GCC initiatives.
