Students applying for Free College must submit the FAFSA, regardless of their qualification status. Free College will cover the remaining amount for Tuition and Fees not covered by FAFSA.
 

To be eligible for Free College, students are required to major in ONE (1) of the following Associate Degree programs or in TWO (2) of the listed Certificate programs.
 

Major in ONE (1) of the following Associate Degree Programs:

  • Associate of Arts in Education
  • Associate of Science in Accounting
  • Associate of Science in Civil Engineering Technology
  • Associate of Science in Information Technology (formerly Computer Networking)
  • Associate of Science in Pre-Architectural Drafting
  • Associate of Science in Surveying Technology

Enroll in TWO (2) of the following Certificate Programs:

  • Certificate in Computer-Aided Design & Drafting (CADD)
  • Certificate in Construction Technology - Carpentry Track
  • Certificate in Construction Technology - Electricity Track
  • Certificate in Construction Technology - Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Track
  • Certificate in Construction Technology - Masonry
  • Certificate in Construction Technology - Plumbing
  • Certificate in Construction Technology - Reinforcing Metal Worker
  • Certificate in Construction Technology - Welding
  • Certificate in Surveying Technology


IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS & PROGRAM INFORMATION BEFORE APPLYING
 

  1. New Students are required to major in one (1) of the listed Free College, Associate Degree programs OR enroll in two (2) of the Free College, Certificate programs.
  2. Continuing GCC Students who are interested in Free College must have completed at least one (1) year in the Associate Degree programs listed above. The Free College program will cover the remaining year of tuition and fees, provided that they verify their FAFSA status.
  3. Individuals who have already obtained a degree or certificate from an accredited program are NOT qualified for the Free College program.
  4. Submission of official transcripts is required; diplomas will not be accepted.
  5. Satisfy the same citizenship requirements as the current federal student aid program (e.g., U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident).
  6. Students must be enrolled full-time.
  7. Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  8. Students will repay tuition and related fees if they withdraw from the program or do not meet performance expectations.
  9. All students applying for Free College are required to complete and submit the FAFSA, regardless of their qualifications or eligibility.
  10. Students enrolled in the Free College program who have received and used program funds but failed to satisfy the program requirements will be required to repay those funds.

1. Free College Application

  • Complete and submit the Free College Application
  • Students applying for Free College must also submit the FAFSA, regardless of their qualification status. Free College will cover of the remaining amount for Tuition and Fees that is not covered by the FAFSA. Refer to step #4

2. Activate Your MyGCC Account

Sign in to myGCC and activate your GCC email account. Note that you can access your GCC email through Gmail as an organizational account and conveniently add it to your mobile device for easier accessibility. MyGCC (Student Portal) is the central hub for all your essential information, including Registration Status, Grades, Holds, Transcripts, and Financial Balances. Daily announcements, news, and events are also posted here.
 



3. Submit Transcripts & Certifications

Submit your OFFICIAL High School Transcript, GED® Certification, or HiSet® Certification before classes begin. Official Transcripts must be sent DIRECTLY from another institution to GCC through either mail or secure electronic methods. Transcripts sent to GCC from personal email addresses or via postal mail after being opened will NOT be considered valid. 4. *Financial Aid / FAFSA

Students applying for Free College must submit the FAFSA, regardless of their qualification status. Free College will cover the remaining amount for Tuition and Fees not covered by FAFSA.

After submitting the FAFSA form, expect a federal processing time of approximately 3 to 5 days. If qualified, you will receive a Deferment Letter in your GCC email from our Financial Aid Office. This letter is crucial and required for steps 9 and 10 unless fully covered by Free College.

5. Submit Student Health Requirements
 

Visit the GCC Health Services Center webpage to view the full list of health requirements and the PPD skin testing schedule.

To schedule an appointment with the Health Services Center, call (671)735-5586 Ext. 5577 / 5414 or email gcc.healthcenter@guamcc.edu. Please include your GCC Student ID# (B00XXXXXX) and a Contact Number when emailing the GCC Health Services Center.
 



6. Academic Advising
 

Counselors and Academic Advisors are ready to assist students with clarifying life and career goals, developing educational plans, advising on course selection, and providing support to achieve academic success.

  • Connect with a Counselor or your Academic Advisor
  • Schedule an online or walk-in counseling appointment: Mondays–Fridays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. (Closed on GovGuam holidays)


7. English & Math Placement Options at GCC


Option A: Math & English Placement Test at GCC

  • Placement testing incurs a non-refundable $22 fee.
  • Contact a Counselor before payment. Payment for testing is made at the cashier's office.


Option B: CLYMER Program

  • Recent high school graduates may qualify to bypass placement tests through the CLYMER Program. Click HERE to learn more.


Option C: Placement with WorkKeys Certificate

  • Guam Community College recognizes Gold and Platinum WorkKeys Certificates (awarded within the last two years) for enrollment in MA110A and/or EN110, instead of taking a placement exam.

8. Register for Classes (Download Guide)


Enroll in classes via myGCC Portal or email your request to gcc.registrar@guamcc.edu

When emailing, requests must originate from your GCC email account. Please include your Full Name (Last, First, Middle), Student ID # (B00XXXXXX), and Course details along with CRN. Courses needing instructor or department chair approval should be finalized before submission to the Admissions & Registration Office.

9. Make Payment

A. Financial Aid students are required to process a Deferment Letter with the GCC Financial Aid Office.

10. Student ID and Textbooks

  • Obtain your Student ID at the Student Support Services (SSS) Office in Room C-1 (Building C). Students utilizing FAFSA need to present a deferment letter or receipt of tuition & fees to get a Student ID.
